Nothing

Yeah, I'm not listening to anything. Except my mother's conversation w/ my boss.

No, I'm not at work. Well, I am, but it's not my shift, so...blah.

Cut myself with a breadknife when I got home last night. And then I dropped half of my bagel on the floor. *sigh*

Went to the capital on Friday for the awards ceremony, which was on Saturday. There's an article on it here: http://www.acluhawaii.org/pages/news/040623AwardWinners.html; here: http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2004/Jul/15/ln/ln18a.html; and here: http://www.mauinews.com/news/story/0718202004_new07BHS0718.asp. I like the last one best. And now assuredly anyone looking at this site will know my full name, my location, and where I graduated from and where I'm going to school now. Stalkers, welcome. Not really. I have pepper spray and fists of fury.

:D

So. Aside from all that shite, um....

Worked a lot on my novel this past wk. Wrote bout 3 chapters.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

Really like that transition.

And let's see. Saw Hulk last night. I don't care what anyone says, it was a good fucking movie. Stupid critics. It had heart and the soundtrack was beautiful. Cinematography was to die for. I love Ang Lee's style. Only thing that was hard to deal with was all the lab scenarios w/ the animal testing...esp. when they accidentally blew up a frog. *shudder* Testing healing w/ radiation. Yuck.

Good movie, overall.

I'm going to go now. Tired.

Eden

Just got my pics from vacation back. Hugh Jackman is sexier than I remember. *sigh*

Got to see Ashen today, totally by accident, which made me ecstatic. :D We're planning illicit meetings. Illicit b/c her mom hates my guts. And my mom's guts. She hates my mom more than she hates me. She should fear me. *evil grin*

Got interviewed by the news today about winning the ACLU scholarship. Tomorrow I have to go to the capital to attend the ceremony, etc.

Applying for more scholarships through fastweb, an online scholarship service. money. money money. And Ashen must too, because she's in greater need than I am.

Got this in my email today:

Things you have to believe to be a Republican today:

- Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

- Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

- The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.

- A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

- Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

- The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

- If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

- A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then demand their cooperation and money.

- Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

- HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart.

- Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.

- A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense.

- A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.

- Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

- The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.

- Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness, and you need our prayers for your recovery.

- You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have the right to adopt.

- What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.

Feel free to pass this on.
If you don't send it to at least 10 other people,
we're likely to be stuck with Bush for 4 more years.

Friends don't let friends vote Republican.

~*~
Gotta love it. And so true.

Think I'm going to go work on my novel.

And Ashen---I'm sending you a revised calendar.

Desert Rose

Yet another day in the life of a wombat.

I mean, "me". Yeah.

ANYway....

What's new....

1] Went to the gym for 2 hours today. Yay me. Going to be buff in no time. "No time" meaning "three years give or take". I also signed up for Karate every Sat. from 11am to 12pm at the same gym. That way, when I'm slim, I can defend myself against potential wannabe rapists. Boot to the head! (yah, yah) Boot to the head! (yah, yah)

2] Taking the midterm today. Ashen needs to too. Or she'll die. It's due by 9pm tonight. Basic. 450 word essay about the universal themes in the five stories I've read. Whee.

3] Working tonight, off tomorrow. Snootchie-moochies!

4] Got my safety check today and my back light fixed. Means I can get my lisence sometime soon.

5] Got a tan today. Dark tanning oil works! I always thought it didn't...but then again I didn't go out in the sun when I put it on. Today I did. And it worked. Ching. Happy happy.

6] I'm trying to update everyday! Yay me! Exclamation points are fun!

7] Need to check my email.

8] Need to call Willow. My cat.

9] Need to stop listing things.

10] Need to accept Jesus Christ as my own personal savior.

PSYCH!!!

Going to go get my work done.

listening to maps by the yeah yeah yeahs. great band. //they don't love you like i love you//

not sure if it was al capone that i met. i just know that he goes by capone and he's famous. so...hee.
and i forgot to mention this in my last huge freaking entry, but i also met a girl who was in the princess diaries. she played the best friend....i think. her real name is heather. anyway. she's really cool. we talked and stuff. she's dating an old friend of mine who used to go to baldwin and is now living in nyc. met two old friends in nyc. didn't see my goddessmother and my goddesssister, though. didn't really expect to. any idea how many perezes there are in nyc? they moved there bout 4 years ago.

ok. can't type any more.

so. life sucks. i have 3 classes, three jobs, and three hours of sleep each night.

THREEE! that's how many joints i've smoked today. i wish.

saw the family guy episode today where we see peter pass gas for the first time ("what the hell was that?"). lovelovelovelove@brian. again, not a goddamn link. (peter) I told her she was fat and should stop eating. (brian) *swat w/ newspaper* No. No.

love.

computer's officially on crack. died today. and now it scrolled up when i pressed enter twice.

thinking bout various actors/tresses for the characters in my book-will-be-turned-movie. Lord Timor: Stuart Townsend or Gary Oldman. Jules deTania: Hugh Jackman or Stuart Townsend. Queen Zameera: Scarlett Johannson or Hoku Pavao. Zardria deZameera: Hoku Pavao. Magea Rosa KashCorasin: Hoku Pavao. Yeah. I could do a one-woman show. Caelum deTerra and Yarrow Achi deZameera are freaking hard....i'm so specific of what i want for them. sigh. Lord Exsil Vis is prolly definitely going to be Alan Rickman if he'll agree, because he's the only one who can do that role justice.

gotta love the names. note: Yarrow is a tribute to my sisters. she has curly red hair. her middle name is Achi, pronounced "aki". Ashen....has curly red hair. Nicks' nickname is Ocky. :D I love my family. the characters of Helene and Zameera are tributes to all great mothers the world over. Caelum and Jules are fantasies. Lord Exsil Vis is a tribute to misguided men. maybe not a tribute. ::shrug:::

No Good Deed

I'm in NYC right now. And I LOVE THIS CITY. I'm going to live here and go to film school and become a Broadway star and be big. If I can...make it here I'll make it....anywhere....it's up to you, New York New YOOOOOORRRRRRKKKKKKKKK! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Yeah, it's absolutely (sp?) amazing here. I got here on Sunday and it's.....well, now it's Saturday, NYC time. Friday where-I-live time. Since arriving, I've seen [1]Aida, [2]The Producers, [3]The Boy From Oz, [4]~*~Wicked~*~, and [5]I Am My Own Wife. I also went to the world famous [6]Apollo theatre in Harlem.

1 [Aida is a spectacular show. I wish for more historical accuracy, but hey---Disney is not perfect. It stars Deborah Cox, but the night I saw it it was her u/s, Saycon Sengbloh, who was (apparently) better. She was v. v. v. good, and I liked the entire show overall. I actually teared up at one point.

The story is this: Aida is a Nubian princess captured by the Egyptians during the Egyptian/Nubian war. The Egyptian captain who captures her, Radames, is betrothed to the Pharoh's daughter, Amneris. Aida impresses Radames with her sword skills (by nearly killing one of his men *evil grin*), so he spares her life and her womens' lives by not sending them to work in the copper mines. He instead sends the women to work for the harvest, and Aida he gives to Amneris as a handmaid. Amneris and Aida become close friends, and Amneris confides her concerns with Radames' lack of affection in Aida. Aida and Radames fall in love, and the story is tragic. Despite the tragedy, there is hope. I'm not telling you the rest; you'll have to watch it for yourself. *v. evil grin*

The music and dancing are excellent in this show. I love the songs.......... ........must.......get............sound...track.]

2 [Mel Brooks is, of course, a genius. I don't think I've laughed more in my life. It was not with the original Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick playing Bialystock and Bloom, but the actors who did were stellar and the show was well-staged with excellent timing. Ulla was well-done, and despite the very thick Swedish accent one could understand everything she said. Debris, et al hangers-on, were flamboyant and funny as first director/crew, and then Hitler. One of my favorite lines in the play? "We may be sitting down, Miss Ulla, but I can assure you we are both giving you a _standing ovation_." Another: "I'm a German Ethel Merman!" And yet one more: "Don't be stupid, be a smartie: come and join the Nazi Party!" I'm not typing out the plot: everyone knows The Producers.]

3 [The Boy From Oz stars none other than the delicious Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine in the X-Men movies and Leopold in Kate and Leopold. He's gorgeous and lovely in this play, which follows the life of Peter Allen, husband to Liza Minnelli, protege of Judy Garland, and singing sensation---a native of Australia. I don't know if Jackman is gay or straight (nor do I speculate): if he's the first, he is an excellent actor because he can portray a straight man very well, and if he's the second, he's an excellent actor because he can play a bi/gay man very well. Either way, he's a God.

I saw this on Wed, and tonight (FRI) I hung out by the stage door to get his autograph. He's a lot shorter than I thought he'd be. I was expecting Wolverine to be 6'5". He's only 6'. Of course, I say 'only' because I'm 5'10". He walked out and I was looking up----like, "Whoa, where are you?" He's just as gorgeous in real life as he is in the movies and on stage, which was great. And he's left-handed.

I've decided I want to cast him as Jules in my major major film, Bellica. This film is the movie adaptation of my novel, which isn't finished on paper but is in my mind. If I stopped wasting time on this blog and my sites, et al, I'd have time to finish the damn thing. :P

Anyway, go see Boy From Oz. Do it. Now. I command it.]

4 [Wicked blew everything away. It's the untold story of the Witches of Oz (not Australia, Frank Baum's Oz.) I plan on being Elphaba (the lead char, wicked witch of west.) It's now my favorite musical---the only one I bought merchandise from. I have a Shiz University Athletic Dept.
Shirt, a poster, a piano/vocal book, and the soundtrack. Which is awwwweeee----sooooommmmeee. *listening* [//eleka nahmen nahmen ah tum ah tum eleka nahmen//eleka nahmen nahmen ah tum ah tum eleka nahmen//let his flesh not be torn//let his blood leave no stain//though they beat him//let him feel no pain//let his bones never break//and however they try//to destroy him//let him never die//let him never die//eleka nahmen nahmen ah tum ah tum eleka nahmen//eleka nahmen nahmen ah tum ah tum eleka...eleka//augh//what good is this chanting?//i don't even know what i'm reading//don't even know what trick i ought to try//fiyero, where are you?//already dead or bleeding?//one more disaster i can add to my//generous supply//]~~No Good Deed. This musical rocks my world. I will be Elphaba. I am Elphaba. Elphaba is me. Not only is the music great and the dialogue well-written, it has meaning. There are political undertones in this play: the animals are losing their ability to speak and Elphaba sets out to stop the evil. She thinks the Wizard will help, but think again. He's the cause. The Wizard represents Hitler, as he appeared after the Great Drought and united the Ozians against a common enemy: the Animals. Elphaba tries to stop him, but he turns the table and makes Oz believe she's wicked. Which she isn't. She's just amazingly powerful, and has green skin. She and Glinda (formerly Galinda) are best friends, but they must go their separate ways: Glinda is a public figure, as Glinda the Good, so she must not be seen to have any ties to Elphaba.

The plot is well-detailed, and there's no way I could explain it all. Read the book. Or watch the musical. Either way. Do it now.]

5 [I Am My Own Wife is the story of a transvestite who lived in Berlin during WWII and then the Stasi police after the Wall was put up. S/he ran an underground gay/bi/les/etc. bar for 30 years, keeping it a secret from the Stasi. Really amazing story, and it's a one-man show. The guy won a Tony for Best Actor, and I can see why. He plays several wildly different characters with speed and accuracy. Really good play.]

6 [The Apollo has Amatuer Night every Wednesday. We went to see it, and it was a lot of fun. I got to meet Capone and talk to him, and there was a lot of love in the audience and w/ the performers. Harlem isn't that scary, despite the rumors. It was really cool.]

Yeah, NYC is fun. I have to go and do my hw now, and then mom and I are going out to a movie or something. Maybe Spider-man 2 or Chronicles of Riddick or something.
